As an elementary teacher I am a bit both extrinsic and intrinsic learner motivation. I control my classroom by giving instructions and at the same time give students the ability to discover thing on their own. Students complete class projects, discussions, role play scenarios, and interact with social activities. There is also a mutual respect in both teacher and students relationship.
I place myself in the middle of the line. I place myself in such position, because I certainly believe that I am a mixture of the two. Being an elementary teacher, my students learn with individual cognitive activities and also learn with social activities, where the things they learn, they are able to relate them in their everyday experiences.
My practices are considered learner centered. I allow students to bring their own knowledge, past experiences, their own level of education and ideas into the classroom. Students are given the opportunity to share their own knowledge.
