Activity 4.7 Action planning for inclusive teaching and learning

During this course, I realized that inclusive teaching is not an ocean to drink, however, it needs support from policy makers, teacher educators, teacher supervisors and in a nutshell from the government to be effective. It is for real that all teacher can jump in easily without a huge amount of additional material.

Before this course, my understanding for teaching was more of treating students as a group of learners not individuals. I have realized that inclusive learning is necessary at all levels of education and all teachers need to imbibe the skills of inclusive education to make learning fun not an ordeal. The aspect of inclusive education I will like to employ to make my teaching more learner centered is the group work criteria.

Yes you are right Aminu. We include everybody in learning, move with everybody, each learning as an individual in a learner centred environment. I  like the way you are bringing out the interrelationship between inclusive and learner centred learning and everybody has a role to play to ensure inclusion in education.

Good Morning Bilkisu, I have always taught both ways grouping and individual. Why this is so, at my institution over the years, I have had learners who are not at the same level and had to planned for them accordingly. The fact of the matter is, that as a facilitator I observed a lot and thought that I managed my students and class quite well. If I observed something that I think is of grave concern, I bring it to the attention of my school principal and its taken from there. What is stood out most for me, I did not know before that there was a face for such job - inclusive teaching and learning and learned centred education.

Nice read.

I like your point Kossi. It bring out clearly the need to embrace  wave1, wave2 and wave3 models of Inclusive Education. Every one has a role to play in ensuring all learners are included in Education.

Kossi, I could not agree with you more on the way you brought it home re: inclusive teaching. All the stakeholders in the education sector is relevant from the top down or vice versa. All teachers can be onboard in making the change.

surely in these four weeks we were all reminded that EVERYONE is responsible not just the specialist or trained Inclusive Educations everyone is responsible to be in inclusive their practises at all times with the appropriate approach ,also intervening with the right Wave model accordingly to support you need to improve your inclusive practise that is focused on the child because she/he  has the right to learn .No one is to be left out
