Activity 3.8 Supporting learners with specific learning challenges

A learner I know with specific disability was a girl (name withheld). This girl was born with a good vision. Unfortunately, one day she was in her parents' shop selling items when thugs approached her  and deliberately poured acid water in her eyes so they could steal from her. The eyes were slightly damaged but is able to see with some challenges.

I noticed the girl had visual impairment from my colleagues working together at the institution (teacher training college). In the classroom, I used to put this girl in front. I also assigned a student (peer) to assist her with dictating notes. When am talking I used face her so that she could see movement of my lips. I used large words when writing on the chalkboard.
