Activity 1.1 - Feeling excluded.

I felt excluded by my peers  when I was a student in primary school because one of my relative was involved in a crime.

This made me feel depressed, hurt and without a sense of belonging.

Thank you Homad for sharing your encounter of exclusion by your peers. It's quite unfortunate that some times learners get stigmatized and unfairly labeled due to wrongs done by people they are related to.  I have also encountered teachers who lowered learners esteem by using demeaning words to learners on the basis of the parents' socio-economic backgrounds.

Thank you Homad for your honest contribution. Family background can make a learner feel excluded in a class. Society should learn to the consequences of such doings and avoid them.

Response of feeling excluded

I guess you felt excluded because of stereotyping and that’s sad to know that people stereotype you because of something not done by you but a member of your family.
