2.1 Education Policy

In Belize we have several policies which states that all children are equal this is stipulated in a document dated (18/06/2020) in a non-discrimination clause. The Ministry Of Education play a key role in creating educational opportunities for children with disabilities for inclusion in what we call the regular classroom setting.  Another organization which deals directly with children with special needs or children with Disabilities advocates for inclusion of children with Disabilities in the education system. One system in place is for children with Disabilities to sit exam like The Primary School Exam taken at standard six to facilitate those students for example if they need assistance in reading they would have someone assist those children.  Another policy in the IBE’s report on Inclusive Education in (2007) which they try to identify and reduce factors that contributes to being excluded from acquiring basic education.  So you can see that in our country they indeed believe that children with disabilities can learn in the regular classroom setting and have policies in place to ensure that no child is left behind.
