1.4 The Wave Model of Intervention

Dear Colleagues

Since the Wave Model places the child at the centre of the model, this reminded me of the theory of student-centered learning which includes allowing students to share in decisions, as they express belief in their capacity to lead and remember how they feel to be included in their own learning. (John McCarthy, 2015). This wave movement is based on the constructivist theories of education championed by Swiss clinical psychologist Jean Piaget. (Mitchell Jay 2016). And, the success of its underpinning idea also encourages teachers to become comfortable with changing their leadership style from directive to consultative -- from "Do as I say" to "Based on your needs, let's co-develop and implement a plan of action." (John McCarthy, 2015).
