In Trinidad and Tobago the
Government’s priorities for Education are as follows:
1) Inclusive Education that
places emphasis on the provision of educational opportunities for the
broadest range of
learners, including those
with differing abilities
who need special learning
contexts;
2) Equitable Education that stipulates
the equal provision
of a diversity
of educational opportunities appropriate for learners who have differing
learning styles and who may not be able to learn in the traditional classroom
governed by teacher-talk;
3) Quality Education that includes
the preparation of
teachers, the relevance
of the curriculum, the
availability of resources
for the classroom
and teachers, and
the competence of the
management of the
schools in which
teachers have to
operate, resulting in improved
learner performance and
recognized certification of
skills, competencies and attitudes; and
4) Promotion of
Lifelong Learning that advocates
for the availability
of educational opportunities for adults,
members of the workforce,
second-chance learners and
those who decide to return to learning after the traditional school age.
