In Trinidad and Tobago, the government policy in terms of Inclusive Education is that every child has an inherent right to education. every child has the ability to learn and that schools should provide for all students, programmes which are adapted to varying abilities.
In order to build on inclusive practices in education, the government looked at some principles that must be observed. i will only name a few, such as:
Equal Opportunity - all learners shall have equal opportunities to develop their skills and abilities to the best of their potential
Equitable Access - should be accessible to all irrespective of individual difference or challenges in accordance with the law.
Valuing Diversity - all children can learn and should be equally valued. Diversity is not viewed as a problem to be overcome but a rich source of enrichment and support to the learning of all.
