3.5 Minimum criteria and Learner-centered teaching.

As a teacher when teaching we need to keep in mind that all students are unique.  They have different learning style.  When delivering a lesson we must make sure that the concept being thought meet all students learning needs.  This can be done through a supportive learning environment by responding to all students needs in the classroom.  We can also make sure that we make the concept of the lesson clear through careful explanation.  To ensure that the lesson is effective and that they will be able to apply the concept in real life we need to check for understanding then and only then will we know if learning have taken place this can be done thorough questioning and prompts etc to check level of each child understanding.

3.5 Minimum criteria and Learner-centered teaching.

Hi Mona,

Thanks for your contribution which drove home to me, the reality of how difficult a task it is to carry out all which you have so beautifully presented.

I find it very difficult to respond to all my students' needs in any given regular day or class session, even though I try. There is always that one child which I felt was not helped as much as may have been needed.  But, it is very sobering to hold to the view that this can be accomplished through a supportive learning environment.

To be honest, the idea of making the concept of the lesson clear through careful explanation can certainly be achieved if more opportunities are allowed for the learners to be more engaged as they explain what they expect to learn and if they can explain how and what they have gained or understood from the learning experience which they have been apart of. I think it is a good place to start to evaluation if the objectives of any lesson have been achieved for both the learners and the teacher.

Totally agree we are teaching children so when planning we need to keep each one of them in mind and ensure we are catering to their individual needs.
