An example of transport policy co-creation in Lebanon is the Greater Beirut Public Transport Project. During its preparation, stakeholder consultations were held with public authorities, universities, NGOs, and members of the public to discuss the proposed transport system and its potential social and environmental impact.
I believe the process could be improved significantly by adding interactive visualisations. For example, maps could display the proposed bus routes, stations, expected travel times, areas affected by construction, and projected changes in congestion. Different scenarios could also be compared, allowing stakeholders to see how changes to routes or station locations would affect their communities. Citizens could provide location-based comments directly on the map. This would make the consultation process clearer, more inclusive, and more evidence-based, while helping decision-makers understand public concerns and compare possible solutions before implementation.
