Have you ever wanted to try out simple coding? Want to understand the basics of what it entails? This course introduces you to the skills, concepts and jargon of coding.
Course learning outcomes
After studying this course, you should be able to:
use programming language Python to produce code
understand the sequences of instructions in Python programmes
understand repetition in Python programming language.
I felt like some instructions were missing or steps slightly unclear, maybe I am a bit thick but i found some this difficult to follow and assumed I should know more than I do. this is introductory and no mention of the "console" and the need to select this, I had to play around more than I should for what should be a step by step guide.
The course does however show the processes and software offering some insights and was valuable but its not written very scientifically and I had to keep going back over things an felt a little confused. this was useful but I feel there are much better constructed intro courses to coding out there.
There are two problems for me; first, not being able to see the program steps without opening a new window means I have to flick backwards and forwards between tabs to read the course content and then read the code. Second, the activities quickly go from straightforward to far too hard for a beginner. I'm afraid that far from inspiring me to continue studying coding this "simple" course has put me off doing any more study into coding at all. I hope the course author reads the reviews and modifies the course content in response. I'm not the only person who has complained about the difficulty of the tasks.
