If I was to study this module, I would be interested in studying courses to help me better understand my home town of Folkestone, Kent. My main motivation for this is that I would like to develop a better understanding of the local area.
I would consider studying the OpenLearn courses below to help me discover and understand more about the following:
- The sea and the local weather as I’m keen to spend lots of time on the beach
- The local geology as to the east of the town are the white cliffs of Dover and some great beaches for fossil hunting.
- How Dungeness power station works and what the risks are.
- French as you can stand on the cliffs in Folkestone and
see Boulogne in France on the other side. France and England are linked by the
Channel tunnel and regular ferry services, so learning the language would come
in handy if I decided to visit France.
- Key political issues in the town including Brexit and people crossing the border.
