6 Summary of Session 2

This session has introduced you to three of the foundational pillars of the ARC model of coaching practice. These three components specifically relate to you and your practice as a coach or someone who supports young people in sport settings. As you have learned about these three principles, you may already recognise things you are currently doing (or would like to do) that connect well with the ARC model, and you should now begin to see how such practice can have significant benefits to including children from diverse ethnic backgrounds. In some cases you may have come across some content that has prompted you to reflect on your current practice and identify areas you could improve, strengthen or may not have considered before. Coaching practice is an ongoing process that is fluid and constantly changing – hopefully you find at least some of the ideas contained in this session useful and will be brave and confident enough to try them out in the future.
