Starting 'Becoming an OU Tutor' course

Hi, I'm just starting the course, figuring out how the discussion forum works and getting some practice! I studied with the OU years ago, have worked in NHS laboratories for 20 year and done a lot of teaching in my roles there. Would like to find out more about being an AL with the OU and potentially do this in the future :)

I am undertaking this course to prepare for a future transition into an Associate Lecturer or tutor role with the OU. Over the past 12 years, I have studied extensively with the OU, earning a BSc (Hons) and currently completing an MEd, which I am set to finish in March of next year. Alongside this long-standing student perspective, I bring 11 years of experience as a secondary school teacher delivering education up to Year 13, making me well-versed in student-facing environments. I hope this course will provide valuable insight into higher education teaching and equip me with a clear understanding of the Associate Lecturer role as I prepare to apply for HE positions. I have deep respect for the OU and would love the opportunity to support others on their educational journeys, just as I have been supported throughout my own studies.
