Data from commercial measuring equipment

When acquiring data with a commercial equipment in a laboratory. Making that data format avaialble might mak euncomfortable the equipment manufacturers?

Yes I see your point and I do know of conflicts regarding this issue. I think the best thing to do is always to try and ask, and get a clear understanding of what your rights are regarding using the data. 

Some manufacturers might not make any claim to the data (in the same way that if I wrote a novel on Microsoft Word, Bill Gates would not expect royalties!). Or they might be happy for you to publish the data so long as you credit them because it shows their tech works well. 

In some cases there may be limitations but you can always publish the metadata, and the methodology (i.e. what techniques or analysis you used) so that your research is more reproducible.
