Accessing genome data

The formats and standards of genome data are a challenge, various data and formats exist, including de-facto standards. That makes comparison quite tedious.

This is a joke pic that enlightens the situation quite well. How standards proliferate. I got a link to this pic from the SNPedia / Promethease guys when we discussed about standards and formats and their importance by email.
