It was In the seventies when I was In secondary school that i felt excluded in the class, I was not particularly good in Mathematics. Never got to easily grasp the concepts being explained by our then Maths teacher and equally afraid to ask questions. Some of us quickly relocated to the back seats whenever the teacher entered the class and the teacher would always ignore us and never bothered to intervene. This went on for a reasonable length of time and we definitely lost interest in the subject which invariably affected our final output.
During those periods, we felt not cared for and excluded, Thinking back, i feel that the teacher should have been more observant and caring. The teacher could also have encouraged the weaker ones through differentiated teaching, the stronger ones could also have been made to support the weaker ones through pairing.. A lot could have really be done by the teacher to make room for Inclusive Teaching and Learing[ITL].
