Thank you all for your great contributions to the week 3 forum.
From your discussions, the following points are revealed:
1.Active teaching approaches to any
cadre of learners involves having a variety of well-planned activities that
offer learners wider choices of engagement depending on their unique abilities
and needs.
2.Large classes, poor learning
behavior, special learning difficulties, and difficult home environments
constitute major inclusivity challenges in education.
3. Every teacher has or will at any one
particular time encounter learners with special needs in the mainstream
classroom. Consequently, the teacher needs to be observant and keen to identify
such learners, and be flexible in changing his /her teaching styles and
approaches to accommodate the concerned learners and raise their self-esteem.
4.The most difficult aspects of active
teaching to define are critical thinking and assessment of learners’ levels of
engagement.
