2.5 The justification for LCE as a policy choice.

LCE has been promoted as a policy and practise because the attitude and values that underpin LCE are consistent with those that underpin Inclusive Education.

My order of priority of the 3 justificatory narratives are as follows.

1.Cognitive Narrative refers to when the teachers lessons(activities prepared) are based on the capabilities and interest of the learner instead on individual rote learning. More over we want to move from teacher is the expert ,instead now the teacher is the facilitator of learning. The children are actively engaged in the learning through discussions in peers or small groups. The teacher in this narrative is embraces the knowledge and experience the learners share in the classroom instead of the teacher always been the main authority in the lesson. In Kevin's case the teacher should have found out his interest and created activities for him to be engaged in also used him to be a leader in group discussion .Since he was interested in books the teacher could have given him activities like on topics of his interest and make him do a report or research and then share to the class or small groups.

2.Preparation of narrative refers to when the learners are given the opportunity and experience the 21st century skills  for life .The learners are given the opportunity to share and discuss ideas from each other, also relate to their own daily life. The relationship between teacher and students or  student to student  are based on mutual respect .Allowing this narrative in the classroom allows the value of range of skills and competences the learner will share with each other  alongside with prior knowledge. This will encourage critical thinking and independent research  ,also eventually reduce content base and relying always on the teacher  for learning but encourage and support independence of the learner due to skills shared in the learning.

If Kevin was allowed to share his skills in using the library in a orderly manner and he could have helped his other peers how to borrow books and assist his peers to learn parts of the library ,I believe he would not steal books but would have enjoyed using the library for his studies and continued on his studies and he would never be in a criminal activity because of the skills he would have learnt form school.

Emancipatory  Narrative refers to when the learner owns their learning, The learner's right is experienced as a result the learner develops skills and attitudes that enhance democratic citizenship of their learning process. The learner is not extrinsic but is an intrinsic learner. The learner is supported and encouraged to experience self esteem of their achievements and value learning for their own sake. Decisions made mostly by the learner, instead of teacher centre. But the learner is able to reflect their personal needs and relate their learning process to their everyday life and context.

If Kevin was provided with the cognitive narrative ,preparation narrative and finally with the emancipatory narrative. Kevin would not have been killed due to result of the  lifestyle he was not prepared because he was not given the opportunity to be still in the classroom  to use his intelligence based on his interest and capabilities  and he would acquire skills and attitudes that would have mad e him become a highly qualified lawyer or Director of a Research Company .

Therefore allowing the existence of these 3 narratives  stated above with the teachers guidance and instructions  will enhance and allow more LCE and quality Inclusive Education amongst the learners.
