Wave Model

Wave model of intervention is a very good approach that can be implemented in schools to help our children.

Wave 1 Inclusive quality first teaching for all Interventions:

This is a good idea because it will help increase opportunity for group work and participation and children will be willing and motivated to participate and be part of a group.

Improved use of learning aids made out of local resources. This strategy is also great because children are unique and learn in different ways so having a variety of improved used of learning aids will cater for all children.

Wave 2 Additional interventions to enable children to work at age-related expectations or above Interventions:

Access---children will be included, reach out to community/parent, medical support, specialist Engagement, make physical environment more accessible, encouraging parents of a disabled child to join, ensure disabled children can access extra-curricular activities and sports.

Wave 3 Highly personalized interventions

Specialist unit within school, accessible curriculum and examination systems, Qualified SEND teachers or designated teacher responsible for leading on inclusion, Special schools, Strong relationships between special and mainstream schools to support learning and transfers

All these three waves I believe are very essential when it come to provide help and assistance to our children especially the ones with special needs. It is good way on how to set up the waves because I believe that we need to do things step by step to reach to our goal.
