Attitudes to Learners

  • Daniel states that leaners with diverse needs have lower abilities and teachers are tempted to teach children at a lower level and also evaluate children at a lower level. Daniel stated that is very unprofessional he does not agree with this point of view of some teachers. It is important that as teachers we identify our children's capacity and build up on that.
  • The cultural attitudes that he want to challenge is that all children have the right to be included regardless of their cultural status and all should be fully respected and included in activities
As teachers, we need to be consistent in praising our children that they are all intelligent and they are capable of learning and performing different tasks using their own talents and abilities.

Pair work and group work are good strategies that help many of our children. I agree with the comments that children labelled as ‘shy’ or ‘slow’ able to feel confident when working with others and are able to do more because they feel included. Thus, when our children feel included they are motivated to work and they are willing to participate and be part of the group and activities.
