Activity 2.3 – Where are you on the line?

a) In what ways could your practice be considered ‘learner-centred’?

I am on both sides of the line but I gravitate towards the right more often when I do Concept Lessons using tactile and manipulative resources for all my children to take an interest in their learning.

b) In what areas would you like to move further to the right?

(i) Syllabus presented as decontextualised - Syllabus reflects lives of learners

(ii) Relationships based on authority - relationships based on mutual respect

These are the two areas I would like to move further to the right.

c) How do you think you could do this within the constraints that are outside of your control?

(i) I think I will have to plan my lessons based on the Socio-economic background of my pupils where the syllabus reflects the lives of my pupils.

(ii) I will have to work on my relationships with my pupils so we can have mutual respect and understanding.
