Activity 2.8 – Challenges Presented by LCE

A significant challenge to providing LCE opportunities are:

a) The infrastructure and resources.

b) No technology or adequate equipment available to the school.

c) Funding not available to all schools.

d) Class sizes with a ratio of 30 pupils to 1 teacher.

e) Ongoing assessment and comprehension checks would be challenging with large number of pupils.

How to address the challenge which is most relevant to me.

Duty of Delegation: Have about 5 pupils as team-leaders for each smaller groups of six children. The team-leaders can take instructions from me (the teacher) and relate what has to be done to each group. This will free up the Teacher to walk around guiding his/her charges towards achieving the learning goals.
