Challenges presented by LCE

Over the years of working with my colleges, have been a wonderful experience. We all have our weaknesses and our strengths and thus we help and support each other in times of need.  Our school and the teachers have been doing these techniques and facilitating the right- hand side of the continua without even knowing it. It all stems from the mindset we have as educators and the positive attitudes we develop  over the years.

We as Ecce teachers are accustomed to the non conventional way of teaching which is, talking. This has proven to be a non- effective way of teaching young children, and children with disabilities. We as educators must take into consideration the child's background, the child's previous experiences, and the community at large. All these things can contribute to child's potential and learning abilities.

There are many teaching strategies now, that can be implemented to help engage children's interest and help to develop their skills, attitudes, knowledge and their dispositions. One of which is : STREAM, where we engage children in experiences and experiments that help to develop all these aspects.

Engaging these young minds with hands on experience, with the use or materials and resources, will help to facilitate an environment where they are open and free to problem solving and building their knowledge.
