Activity 3.5 – Minimum Criteria and Learner-Centred Teaching

Part A – English Lesson in Secondary class – Observed Lesson

Observation of Inclusivity

All learners were involved in the learning process.

A student without hands was using his toes to write. He was included in the class and lesson. He was placed in front of the class.

The teacher spoke in the mother tongue, so all learners was included and felt comfortable to be in class.

The exchange of notes was a great way for other students to share what was written.

Checks were made to ensure students were understanding the lesson.

Part B

Two ways in which I could have made the lesson more learner centred are:

1) Critical Thinking.

I could use Open-Ended questions for the students to think critically.

2) Supportive Learning Environment

I could use Technology –e.g YouTube videos to help bring my point across.
