Activity 3.8 – Supporting Learners with Specific Needs in a Mainstream Classroom.

Strategies the Teacher uses to support the Learners with ADHD are:

a) She works closely with Parents and Therapist

b) She plans lessons with a variety of activities

c) She uses a range of strategies to aid concentration.

d) She gives the children with ADHD responsible task such as the handing out of worksheets.

e) She would give them something to play with to calm them down – sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

f) She ensures that the children desk are tidy so that they are not distracted by clutter.

g) She uses screens to aid concentration.

h) She uses rewards system and praise to build all children’s confidence.

i) She is consistent with her routine.

j) If you win their trust and show them that you care, with parents as well, the children knows that they can achieve and try harder to achieve.

 

These strategies will also benefit other learners in the class:-

1) She plans lessons with a variety of activities
