Yes, I am familiar with these definitions that the
authors provided for inclusion and disability.
The Wave Model provide an accessible framework for
ministries of education and practitioners to use in order to plan practical
steps for inclusive education implementation.
I can make more use of group or paired work during
center time when children are actively engaged in different centers; during
lessons- pair children to arrive at a conclusion; during outdoor play. Some
learning aids that can be used are: counting stick, bottle lines, mini-
blackboards, music and technology.
Wave 1 is about what should be an offer-the effective inclusion
of all in high quality everyday teaching in mainstream classrooms and Wave 2 recognizes
that disable children have the potential to work at and beyond expectations of their
peers but direct intervention is needed.
Wave 3 interventions for special schools are possible.
For inclusion to work, the special school sector needs to be engaged and
working with mainstream schools for the benefit of children with disabilities,
especially in the arena of providing suitable education that is not just vocational
but also supports particular kinds of disability.
