8. Learners
feel afraid to give a wrong answer or to make a mistake.
What this
teacher can do is to read a story about a child who was afraid to speak up but
with hold the ending and allow the children to finish the story. Make sure to
let the students know that all answers need to be respected and that there is
no right or wrong answer because we all have a different way of thinking. Give the
children time to explain why they thought of that ending. In the end let the
class come together to agree on an ending to the story and document their
answers.
This activity
would help to cultivate an atmosphere of freedom to speak and would also help
students to help each other learn.
10.
Teachers always ask closed questions with a yes/no right or wrong answer.
This teacher
can start to ask open ended questions (why, what and how questions) more during
lessons as to learn how your students think and to challenge them. This would
help transform your classroom's learning environment, and the way your
students think about the world.
