Using annotation, Hypothes.is enables sentence-level note taking or critique on top of news, blogs, scientific articles, books, terms of service, ballot initiatives, legislation ... Applied to bioscience research, Hypothesis allows the bioscience community to enrich research objects-narrative, data and code-through open web-based scholarly annotations that open up conversation channels around specific issues allowing for any web page or pdf to become an interactive workspace.  Although annotations are currently stored on Hypothes.is’ servers, they are owned by whoever creates them.
