Other Vannam dances includes Vannam inspired by religion, nature and legends. These are often demonstrated through story-telling choreographies where performers often play characters. 

NB: In the recent times, at least three other Vannams have been added to the 18 principal Vannams. They are Samanala (butterfly) Vannama, Bo Vannama; in praise of the sacred bodhi tree in Anuradhapura, Hansa (swan) Vannama and Chandra Vannama; Ode to the moon.
