1.11 Refine your research question
In this exercise the aim is to draft and share your own research question or the issue you want to address.
Exercise
Go back to the discussions we had in the last Step about what makes a good research question, an issue that you can explore - something that you want to find out more about. Don’t worry if you’re not sure yet about what it should be. At this stage the aim is just to draft an initial idea to start working on.
We will come back to this again next week, when you can refine your question further, and then exchange it with other participants in a peer review activity. You will each comment on one or two other participants’ research question, to give helpful suggestions of how they could improve it.
The criteria for defining and reviewing a good research question will be based on the issues we have discussed this week.
In your Research Notebook make a draft of your research question.
Post the current draft of your question on this Padlet and look through what others have suggested.
Over to you
In the forum, reflect on the challenge of posing a good research question in the comments here. Does it help your own thinking to see what others are thinking about for their research questions?
