3.1 Introduction to the Week
This week is about putting the skills you learnt last week into practice. You will learn more about reasons to combing different approaches to data collection and put together a short research proposal for your own project.
We touched on the sensitivities of the research process in Week 1. This week we take things further and think about what is required when you submit an ethics application.
Once you have worked out what your research project will look like, this week you have the opportunity to take part in a peer review activity. You can submit your own proposal to receive feedback from other participants, and give participants feedback on their proposal too.
This process is very close to the practices of professional researchers, so there is a lot to gain from this exercise. There is nothing like a fresh pair of eyes on your research ideas!
After collecting the research data, you still have a few things to do. One of these is data analysis. For small scale research projects, you are most likely to be collecting qualitative data, which can be challenging to analyse. This week we show you how to approach this task and you can practice your techniques together.
When you finish your research, you will want to make an impact with your research, and we show you how getting to grips with social media can help you do that.
