Hi All,
I'm wondering what people think about pre-registration when a moderate number of experiments are involved single paper, following a narrative? For example, if the first experiment is confirmatory, the next few may be exploratory, and then once a hypothesis is nailed down the last one is confirmatory too?
On the one hand, you can't know what might need to be pre-registered with the exploratory experiments - and I think the non-biased nature of exploratory can be an understated strength of them. On the other hand, having a paper where some experiments are pre-registered and others are not may not look good to reviewers etc.
