Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory makes me more aware of how my daily routines as a teacher are connected to wider influences. When I volunteered as a teacher, many students struggled with financial problems and political impacts. At that time, it felt very difficult to support them both mentally and physically. Now I realize that providing good quality education also requires understanding the different systems that affect students directly and indirectly. Many teachers, including myself, often focus only on our own teaching goals and forget to consider the broader environment shaping students’ lives. This theory helps me see the importance of community participation and encourages me to understand the challenges students face in their families, communities, and society. With this awareness, I can build stronger relationships and provide more meaningful support for their learning and wellbeing.
