3.8 Submission and Peer Review
This step involves two key actions: submitting your activity in the forum (link below) and reviewing a peer’s submission in the discussion forum.
Instructions for Submission
The task has the following four steps:
- Propose an activity that you can use in your classroom to create a safe and emotionally supportive environment for learning;
- Describe when you would use the activity (e.g. at the beginning of the school term; at the end of the school day etc.);
- Explain how the activity helps students learn and also creates a safe and supportive learning environment;
- Explain how using the activity can help the teacher manage the classroom or the learning space.
As a guide, around 300 - 500 words should be sufficient for this task. Remember to avoid revealing personal information about other people.
Instructions for Peer Review:
After submitting your activity, you will reflect on the experience of giving feedback to other learners. There are no scores associated with this step - it is simply formative feedback.
As a guide, try to write around 50 - 100 words of feedback. You will be asked to review two submissions based on the following criteria:
- Clarity & Detail: Does the submission provide sufficient details for another teacher to follow how and when to use the activity?
- Learning Environment: How appropriate is the activity for building a safe and supportive learning environment?
- Effectiveness: To what extent could the activity be effective for learning and classroom management?
It is often finding out about the experiences of other participants that makes this step the most valuable part of the assignment process. When you review others’ submissions against the criteria, you may begin to think about your own in a different way.
Through the process of reviewing the learning activities proposed by your peers, and receiving reviews of the activity you proposed, you might think of improvements to your learning activity. Go back to your activity and revise it in the light of this process.
