Experience as a volunteered teacher

When I was in camp, I got to learn more about refugees and displaced people in Myanmar, especially the Karen people. In 2025, I started working with the Karen Student Network Group (KSNG), an independent organization that empowers Karen students through leadership and social well-being training, cultural preservation, environmental protection, and educational development. I serve as both a trainer and an organizer in youth training programs and summer courses. When I volunteered as a computer teacher in the KSNG Summer Course in a remote village in Karen State, I got a lot of valuable experience that shaped my commitment to keep on serving my community as a young and enthusiastic youth. My fellows and I had to wake up early, have breakfast, and prepare for school. The school and where we lived were quite distanced so we had to go thirty minutes early before school started. The weather is extremely hot as it was the summer time, which makes it hard for both teachers and students to concentrate on learning. This was not a huge issue for me. However, I could feel the students were getting slowly tired as they were from different villages, walking a long way to get to school every day. This made me realize that I am responsible for this, as I used to be one of them. As I grew up surrounded by needs, I feel like the needs became my calling.
