Education can be seen in all four roles: victim, perpetrator, liberator, and peacebuilder. Education becomes a victim of conflict when schools are closed due to safety concerns, and both students and teachers feel afraid to attend because of violence or political instability. Sometimes, schools are even used or targeted during conflicts, which disrupts learning and causes students to fall behind. At the same time, education can act as a perpetrator when it is not inclusive. For example, if certain groups are ignored, or if biased information and stereotypes are taught, it can create anger and division among communities. However, education also has the power to be a liberator. When students are encouraged to think critically, express their ideas, and understand their rights, they become more confident and capable of improving their society. Finally, education plays an important role as a peacebuilder. Teachers can promote respect, understanding, and dialogue among students from different backgrounds. By creating a safe and inclusive classroom, they help students learn how to resolve conflicts peacefully and work together for a better future.
