Challenging behaviour

In my experiences, when a student showed challenging behavior in classroom, I first responded to behavior itself by try to handle the situation calmly to maintain a positive learning environment. However I realized that focusing only on behavior was not enough.

I reflected further and became wondering about the story behind the student's behavior. What are the other factors might affect the student's behavior aside from school pressure. I understood that there might be underlying reasons such as family problems, emotional stress, or difficulties outsides influencing their actions.

To better understand the situation  I tried to meet up with them privately, asking about their difficulties in supportive and non-judgement way. Moreover that I communicated with their parents if it needed. In this way I have a better understanding about the students.

Overtime I got to learn that there might be more than one factor might affect their learning journey and more understanding to figure out possible solution for the students.
