Challenging behaviour

When I had a student with challenging behavior, at first I focused only on the behavior. But later I started to think more about the reason behind it. After learning about Urie Bronfenbrenner’s theory, I realized there is always a “story” behind how a student acts.

Instead of just correcting the student, I will try to understand them better. I will talk to the student privately, listen to them, and give them a chance to share what is going on. I will also pay attention to changes in their mood and behavior over time.

This helped me see that the student might be dealing with problems at home or any other places, or feeling stressed. After that, I tried to be more patient and supportive, and the student slowly improved.
