Did you respond to the behaviour only or reflect further and become curious about the ‘story’ behind their behaviour

Personally, I did not respond to the behaviour only; I became curious based on their personality, behaviour, and interaction.  Sometimes, they might lose attention during the class, which could be their personal difficulties or family problems. When I noticed something unusual, I let them openly talk first, listen to their reason, so it helped me learn how to handle their case.

What did you do to understand and learn more about their story?

To better understand and learn more about their stories, I regularly met with the students’ mothers, since there were only a few students. Through the conversations, I was able to identify possible solutions, such as encouraging parents to arrange proper care for younger siblings while they are at work. However, there were also sometimes when I was unable to address their deeper family problems related with the students.
