Challenging begaviour

In my experience, when I taught the KSNG Summer Course in Karen State, there was a student who showed challenging behaviour. I tried not to focus only on the behaviour but to be curious about the story behind it. Sometimes he was quiet, aggressive, or not engaged because of problems outside the classroom, such as family issues, stress, or past experiences, I believe. Instead of immediately correcting him, I try to talk to him calmly and build trust. Then, I also communicated with his family to understand their situation better, similar to the approach used by Marist Asia Foundation. This helped me respond with more empathy and adjust my teaching to support the student. I believe understanding the whole situation can lead to better outcomes for both the student and the classroom environment.
