Space for listening to learners

Do you have activities or routines that you use regularly to create space for listening to learners? 

In my experience, I believe that listening to students is very important in create the better learning environment.  When students feel heard they become more comfortable, confident and engaging in studies. 

In my class ,the end of every week I give them a piece of letter to write about overall reflection about the week, telling them to write everything they have experienced through out the week. This helps me understand their thoughts and feelings better and creates a space where they feel comfortable expressing themselves.

For learning purpose, I created some fun game such as short stick questioning, shape pairs and group dice rolls. These also makes them more active during lessons. It helps me understand whether they truly understand the lesson, and it also encourages them to communicate more with each other.

If teachers listened more to their students and understood them better, they could create a supportive learning environment where the conversational framework promotes active and meaningful learning.
