Supporting your learners

In my teaching, I have used some simple strategies to support Social Emotional Learning, such as asking students how they feel at the beginning of class, encouraging them to share their ideas, and promoting respect and teamwork during group activities. I used to teach my students about Self-awareness to handle their emotions and use it as a tool to overcome challenging situations. These strategies help develop self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills. I have seen that students become more confident and supportive of each other, but sometimes it is challenging because some students are shy or not used to expressing their feelings. I think I could use activities from International Rescue Committee, especially simple games that encourage communication and teamwork, because they are practical and suitable for low-resource classrooms. These activities would work well in my context as they help students feel safe, build positive relationships, and improve both their learning and emotional well-being.
