In my teaching context, I believe I can use some of the lesson plans and SEL games from the International Rescue Committee resources. They seem very practical and suitable for my students, especially because many of them experience stress and challenging situations.
For example, I would like to use games like “What am I feeling today?” and “Feelings charades” because they help students understand and express their emotions. I think this is very important in my context, as many students may not feel comfortable talking about their feelings directly. These activities can make it easier and more natural for them to share.
I am also interested in using simple games like “Simon says” or “Red light, green light” because they help students focus, follow instructions, and build attention skills. These are useful for classroom management, especially when students are distracted or have low energy.
I believe these activities would work well because they do not require many materials, and they can be easily adapted to my students’ age and situation. Also, they create a more relaxed and supportive environment, which helps students feel safe and ready to learn.
Overall, I feel these SEL games are not only fun, but also very meaningful. They can help improve both students’ emotional well-being and their learning.
