Supporting my learners

  • What strategies, if any, have you tried using to help your learners develop the five core competencies of Social Emotional Learning? What successes and challenges have you had with these strategies?

Activities such as express their feeling  or self-reflection exercises help students identify and understand their emotions. Creating a classroom environment that encourages self-awareness leads to better emotional regulation and academic engagement among students.

  • Do you think you could use any of the lesson plans or SEL games from the International Rescue Committee resources in your teaching? If so, which ones, and why do you think they would work in your context?

Yes, I would highly recommend using the international rescue committee. This tools are exceptional for fostering resilience, emotional regulation, and social skills in children, particularly within trauma-informed or high-stress, diverse classroom environments.
