The principles that I use in my teaching are empathy and respect. If we have empathy for one another, we can understand other people’s feelings, which can help reduce bullying and violence. Before class, I always ask students how they feel, and I do some activities or games with them for refreshment.

I also encourage shy students to participate by gently inviting them to join the activities. Their friends also understand empathy, so they support and encourage each other.

To create a respectful and safe environment, we have to start with ourselves and the people around us, especially the students we teach.
