In my teaching, I have used different strategies to support learners’ social and emotional development.
I encourage learners to reflect on their feelings and understand how emotions affect their actions. This helps them recognise their strengths and weaknesses, although some students feel shy to share.
I also use goal-setting and simple routines to help learners take control of their thoughts and actions. Some students become more responsible, but others need more support to stay consistent.
Group discussions and role-play activities help learners understand others’ feelings and perspectives. This improves respect, but misunderstandings can still happen.
Through group work, learners practise communication, listening, and solving problems together. This builds teamwork, although conflicts sometimes occur and need guidance.
I also use real-life situations to help learners think about consequences and make safe and thoughtful choices. However, some learners still act without thinking.
I believe interactive activities like games, storytelling, and group tasks would work well in my context because they are simple, engaging, and help create a safe and supportive learning environment.
