Sharing my reflection

This week really highlighted that we are more than just instructors; in a migrant or conflict setting, we are the anchors of a student's Microsystem. Reflecting on the "Math-Mood" Blob Tree activities, I’ve realized that addressing a student's emotional state isn't a "distraction" from the lesson it is the foundation that makes learning possible. By creating a sanctuary where students feel safe to express frustration or gratitude, we help them move from being victims of their circumstances to liberators of their own futures.

I am curious to hear from others: how do you maintain your own emotional boundaries while acting as a counselor for your students? It is so easy to take their stress home with us, and I’d love to know your strategies for staying resilient.
