Activity and peer review

This activity is called emotional colors, and there are 2 steps in it. The first step will be in the beginning of the class, and the second step will be at the end of the class.

In the beginning of the class, the teacher would ask the students to draw a flower, a bottle, or anything that they want to draw, but the drawing should be something that can be painted. The teacher should explain to the students that the things that they will paint should be based on their feelings of the day. Then, the students have to color the things that they drew with different colors, and different colors represent different feelings. The drawings should be colorful. The more color you put in the drawing, the more feelings you have. For example, Dah Thoo is drawing a flower, and he would paint it with different colors. There are so many colors in his flower such as black, pink, yellow, and sky blue. He said that black shows that he is sad, pink shows that he is feeling loved, yellow shows that he is happy, and sky blue shows that he is feeling grateful. However, he used black more than the other colors in the flower, and he said there is more sadness in him because his puppy passed away yesterday. This is how the first step works—painting things based on feelings.

At the end of the class, the teacher would start the second step, and the teacher would pair the students. The teacher would ask the students to share their drawing and painting with their pair and write an encouraging letter to each other. Before doing the second step, the teacher should make the rules that students should respect each other's feelings, students should not make fun of each other while sharing their feelings, and the encouraging letters that they write should include only positive things. The teacher would tell them about empathy and how being rude can make someone feel bad.

After this activity, there is a greater chance that the students would understand each other's feelings more and gain more respect for each other. Moreover, this activity would also impact students' wellbeing and will also impact their performance in a positive way. I believe that this activity is a great idea to help students understand each other's feelings.
