This week has helped me understand that teaching is not only about sharing knowledge, but also about supporting students’ emotional well-being and understanding their background. I learned how theories, such as the Ecological Systems Theory, can help me think more deeply about the different factors affecting my students. I also found Social Emotional Learning very useful in creating a safe and supportive classroom. Overall, this course has made me more reflective and aware as a future supportive teacher, and I feel more confident to adapt my teaching to support my students better. I would like to learn more about how teachers can handle serious emotional or trauma-related issues when there is no professional counsellor available.
